At a table set for two, covered by an elegant lace cloth and adorned with matching napkins, silverware, stylish china plates and coffee cups, a vision of the future arose. Founders Ted Johnson and George Ballis (pictured at right) were confident in their concept of a new theater.
Since this photograph, taken in July of 1967, the Alhambra Theatre has been a place where friends and families can come together to enjoy a broadway-quality show and a delightful meal.
Through the years, our theater has dazzled generations of guests and even a few celebrities. If these walls could talk, they would have some fun tales to share.
Today, the Alhambra stands proudly as the nation's oldest continuously-operating dinner theater. With the improvements current owner Craig Smith has directed coupled with the quality performances and occasional stars previous owner Tod Booth directs, the Alhambra is as vibrant as ever after more than a half century in operation.

I love this place! My first show was Mamma Mia last year and have since become a season partner! I highly recommend becoming a season partner if you want to see most or all of the shows each year.

Generally good food. Almost always great entertainment. Hard to beat it for a fun night out and it won't break the bank for all that you get.

This Jacksonville staple has been around for quite a while. The production, costumes, and special affects were spectacular. The cast was very talented and the server was very attentive and friendly.

COVID-19 Update
The Health and Safety of Our Staff and Guests Is Our Top Priority.
A message from our owner, Craig Smith.
Thank you for visiting the Alhambra’s website. We will be continuing to follow the COVID-19 guidelines we have followed since June 2020. Our guests and our staff tell us they are comfortable with our social distancing measures and with our rules about wearing masks, and it is this important feedback that we put above all other factors.
For those of you renewing their Season Partnerships for 2021, we will continue to employ the adjusted seating plans until further notice. We thank you for your understanding as our Box Office staff works with you to ensure the best possible seating.
Warmest regards,
Craig Smith
Managing Partner
For further details about our current COVID-19 policies, please continue reading.
The Alhambra is taking every precaution to protect the safety of its guests as it relates to COVID-19. To protect our staff and our guests, we are adhering to all recommendations from our state and local officials, including practicing social distancing by limiting our capacity to the recommended percentage in the theater and limiting access to the Library Lounge.
In regard to seating, no two parties will share a table unless otherwise requested and each reserved seat is at least 6 ft. away from the next reserved seat (not in their party). Throughout the building, you will find measured distances marked on the floor to avoid crowding. We also ask that all guests respect social distance when navigating throughout the theater (i.e. the bar, bathrooms, etc). Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the building. Our kitchen and service staff will wear masks and gloves and they have received updated training.
Update: In following with the city of Jacksonville’s recent mandate, we are now requiring all guests to wear a mask during your experience here at the theater, excluding the meal portion, of course. Masks will be available for $1, upon request, for those who cannot provide their own.
We also insist that if you feel at all symptomatic, and/or if you have been exposed to COVID-19, that you reschedule your reservation. Should you need to reschedule due to illness, we are offering full house credits back to your Alhambra account and waiving the day of show cancellation fee.
To ensure the safety of others, customers and staff will be asked to leave the premises upon any display of illness.
If you have any further questions, give us a call. We are here to help!
