42nd Street is a musical version of the classic film of the same name. This show tells the story of a new musical, called "Pretty Lady," which is to be directed by the famous Julian Marsh. An aging star named, Dorothy Brock is to be featured, but after she is injured, Peggy Sawyer, a young chorus member is pushed unexpectedly center stage and becomes a surprise star on opening night.

Charlie Baker, is a shy Englishman thrown among unfamiliar people in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia. Charlie's boisterous friend "Froggy" has come to the American South to conduct explosives training at a nearby Army base, and he thinks Charlie can use a change of scenery. When Charlie becomes nearly frantic at the thought of making conversation with strangers, Froggy tells the innkeeper, that Charlie is a "foreigner" who can't speak or understand English.
